This is Kathy Denworth with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Freewheeler Realty in Islamorada, Florida. I’m here to talk to you today about one of the neighborhoods in Islamorada. It’s located on Plantation Key. Now, if you’re not familiar with Islamorada, the village of islands is, as it’s called Islamorada, is made up of four major islands, he first one being Plantation Key, which is the northernmost key. Then you have Windley Key, which is just over the Snake Creek Bridge, and then you have Upper Matecumbe Key and then Lower Matecumbe Key. That’s the the bottom end of Islamorada.

We’re going to talk today about Indian Waterways, which is on Plantation Key. When you come on Plantation Key over Tavernier Creek bridge, you’re going to be passing some businesses and you’ll be passing the high school. Of course, the grade school and the middle school is there also. Then you’ll be passing Plantation Key Colony, and you keep coming south, and you’ll see San Pedro Catholic church. Just after San Pedro Catholic church is where Indian Waterway starts. It’s on the bay side, so be looking on the bay side.

Indian Waterways is made up of several streets. The first street you come to would be Caloosa, and just off of Caloosa is Tequesta, it kind of jags. You also have Mohawk, Pueblo, Navajo, Apache, Ojibway, and part of Indian Mountain Trail.

Indian Mountain Trail, those houses that are on Indian Mountain trail that are waterfront are bay front, and those run anywhere from $2 million up to $6 million, depending on the size of the lot and the amenities offered in the property, how big it is, things like that. The ones on the canal of course are much less.

If you’re boating from there, which a lot of people do, you’ll find that it has pretty deep canals. So oftentimes you’ll see sailboats, but if you have a smaller boat you’d want to go through Tavernier Creek. That’s your easiest open-water access to the ocean. Of course, the bay is right there. If you have a larger boat, you’d want to go down to Snake Creek where you have the drawbridge and anything in the world can go through there.

You’ve got a grocery store, Payfair, about three miles to the north. Then of course you go over the Tavernier Creek Bridge and you’ve got all the amenities of the shopping center there. The movie theater, Winn-Dixie, Dillon’s, a bunch of restaurants. There are, of course, lots of restaurants on Plantation Key, so you won’t go hungry, and there’s many places that do deliver. Let’s see, what else? If you go south, you go to a Publix, which is about mile marker 84. In Indian Waterways, you’d be living at about 89.
